Shopping with friends

Whenever I’m out shopping with my friends, I feel pressured to be as extravagant as they are.

answer:
Learn to be part of your mates’ sprees without actually burning a hole in your pocket.

FUN DOESN’T MEAN BUYING
Fitting is free of charge so why not take some clothes with you to the dressing room and have a session of dress-up with your pals? See what looks good so you know what to buy when you can afford it.

DON’T BE A WET BLANKET
If a friend is considering an expensive tote, make encouraging remarks like, “You look great with it.” Don’t say stuff like, “You sure? That’s two weeks’ of pay gone down the drain!” You’re her friend, not her mum.

STAY WITH THE PROGRAM
If they ask why you’re not buying anything, just say, “Oh, I’m actually saving up for these hot satin stiletto es,” not, “I’m short on rent.” Don’t open the door to nosy queries.
