I’m afraid we’ll soon lose touch

My friends are applying to be teachers. I haven’t decided what I want to do but if I don’t go along, I’m afraid we’ll soon lose touch.

answer:
Does this sound familiar? You applied for the same secondary school as your best friend, then moved on to the same junior college, and finally you both signed up for the same course in the university. But the working world is a whole new ball game and what suits your friends might not suit you. Before you put your name down for that teaching course, do the following exercise:

Make a list of things you look for in a job. For eg, money, recognition, casual dress code or flexible hours.

Now, flip through as many magazines and newspapers as possible. Tear out any images that appeal to your idea of a
rewarding career. Even that car you’ve always wanted counts!

Get a huge cardboard and arrange your tear-outs into a collage. Don’t stick them down yet. Play around with the arrangement to create the collage that best expresses your dreams.

When you’ve completed your collage, stick it up and have a look. Is there a common theme among the pictures? See if you can spot your true calling in the images.
