Facebook relationship with a cute guy
I recently got involved in a facebook relationship with a cute guy and we’ve arranged to meet up for coffee in a couple of weeks. Problem is, the photos on my profile have been carefully edited to present me in a rather flattering light — I’ve even digitally enhanced a few. This is not how I look and I’m afraid this guy is going to feel let down when he actually sees me for real. Should I come clean and send over a more realistic image before we see each other for the first time?
answer:
I don’t think it’s necessary and the reasons are manifold. First, his images are likely to be as carefully monitored as yours, which means he doesn’t exactly look like he does online either. Next, while physicality plays an undeniable part here, your respective personalities will have meshed to a point beyond mere physical attraction. By now, you’ve probably discovered mutual tastes and dislikes, and made each other laugh. By sending through a “before” shot, you are implying that he is so shallow that he might lose interest upon seeing the real you, which is a bad message you should definitely not be sending. Go on your date and you may even discover that he likes you for you, and not just for your photograph.
