He doesn’t want to consider a long-term future
The man I’m in love with tells me that even though we get on brilliantly, have a great laugh together and are perfect for each other in every way, he doesn’t want to consider a long-term future as the passion is missing. How can I convince him that passion doesn’t last but love and respect definitely do?
answer:
If love and respect were all that counted, you’d be marrying your grandpa or that nice Mr Jones from the corner shop. Okay, true passion rarely lasts for ever -at least not in its pure, undiluted, fantastic, rip-your-clothes-off state. Sooner or later, it evens out into something else altogether - intimacy. But I don’t believe anyone can get to the intimacy level without passing, however briefly, through passion on the way. It sounds like your man thinks the same. It’s a hard thing to accept, but if someone just doesn’t feel it, there’s not a lot you can do about it. Your best bet is to get out and find someone who does realize what a gorgeous lust object you are. You deserve love, respect… and passion. In spades. Don’t settle for anything less.
