Men are afraid to commit?

Men, in fact, seek marriage in greater numbers than women and very few remain lifelong bachelors.
Moreover, once a man tries marriage, he’s hooked. When psychologist Lillian B. Rubin asked married men and women whether they’d marry again if something were to happen to their spouse, almost every husband, without hesitation, responded yes. Nearly half the wives, however, said they wouldn’t do it again.

So why does the myth of the commitment phobic man persist? One reason, may be that men do experience episodic fear of commitment. There are men who are basically attuned to relationships - just not right now. This may happen after a man’s been burned by a break-up and feels too confused to get involved again. Women who think the world is populated by commitment phoebes might have misaligned radar. Put these women in a room with 500 men who look the same, are dressed the same and have the same job and they’ll pick the one guy who’s dying not to be with anybody.
