Horror movies stays in my head and gives me awful nightmares
My boyfriend has developed a rabid appetite for horror movies. The creepier and gorier, the better. I loathe them! Mostly because once the credits roll, the flick stays in my head and gives me awful nightmares. I’ve tried to be as enthusiastic as he is but the aftermath’s just not worth it. At times, I have sat bolt upright in bed breathing heavily and scared out of my wits only to have him say to me, “It was just in your head”. To which I want to reply, “It wouldn’t have been were it not for you!” I’ve thought of asking him not to watch these films, but that feels a bit unfair. Not going along isn’t an option I like either since we don’t have enough time together as it is. Help!
answer:
If you haven’t done so already, gently explain to him what kind of impact these films have on your psyche. Most men wouldn’t knowingly put someone they care about through such an experience. If he maintains it’s his right to watch what he wants, then so be it. He just has to realise that you won’t be there. How about this: Set aside one night a week for him to indulge in Night Of The Living Dead 7: An Evening Of Entrails while you head out for cocktails with the girls.
