How do I know if the things he’s saying to me are true?
I met a guy from a common interest forum. We’ve been talking for a couple of months now and I’m beginning to find myself attracted to him. The only thing that stands between us is our different locations on earth — a rather big headache obviously. How do I know if the things he’s saying to me are true? How do I gauge if he’s a trustworthy man and one worth meeting in person?

In a word, don’t. You haven’t said where this person lives, but I would be extremely cautious about meeting up with someone you don’t know, especially if you have to travel. I hate to be cynical here but you can never be too careful. There are many cases of people using the Internet for scams and crimes. You can try to find out as much about him via your communications but you will never know if he’s telling the truth. Sorry to be a pain but if I were you, I’d find someone closer to home.
