Crabs in the genital area
I saw a movie on TV the other day where a guy accused this girl of giving him “crabs“. He was scratching his genitals furiously just before that. My friend says “crabs” is lice. Is it?
answer:
It’s pubic lice to be precise. These tiny parasites are different from head lice and prefer the coarser hair in the genital area. However, they’ve also been known to migrate to other parts of the body such as armpits, eyebrows, and facial hair. They’re called crabs because they look like crabs and are usually white, grey or reddish in colour. You can see them with the naked eye, although it’s hard to do so, or with the aid of a magnifying glass. The itching suffered by the guy is due to the parasite’s bites. One can contract pubic lice through close personal contact, such as sexual intercourse, and through the sharing of infested towels, bed linen and clothes or if you sleep in an infested bed. It is, however, rarely gained from toilet seats.Treatment usually involves over-the-counter lice shampoo and sterilising all bed linen, towels and clothing to prevent another infestation.
