Why is it that boys are obsessed with bodily functions?
My boyfriend seems to think it is funny to pass wind in public or worse in my general vicinity. I tell him to stop because it offends me but he laughs it off. How can I tell him to stop disrespecting me in this way?

Ah, the eternal allure of the bottom burp. As embarrassing as this may be to you, I’d bet my intestinal tract that he doesn’t realize you view his emissions as a pungent statement of disrespect. The solution lies in what you do after he laughs off your objections. The next he dismisses your concerns, restate them then and there in a calm, measured way. If he again dismisses you, that’s when the disrespecting has begun and you’re entitled to walk away. From the table. If this doesn’t give him a reality check put this transgression into the bigger relationship picture in terms of his failure to respond to what you feel is a legitimate concern. Laughing gas this ain’t.
