He’s not my type but we’re together because he’s kind

My boyfriend and I have been together since college. He’s not my type but we’re together because as long as he’s kind, Mr Right isn’t important. Though he’s 23, he doesn’t have a car so it’s hard for us to meet. I don’t think we have a bright future together. I’m worried that things won’t improve after we marry, so should I still be with him? Please help.

answer:
Exactly why are you with this man? Because he’s, erm, kind and, err, that’s about it? You say he doesn’t have a car, as if that were a major attribute in a boyfriend. But you don’t say you love him. Nor that he loves you. And this okay, I suppose, boyfriend is someone you’re thinking about marrying? Why? Marriage won’t improve a relationship you already feel is going nowhere. I’m inclined to agree that you don’t have a bright future together. Or even any kind of future. Ask yourself why you are with him - is it just convenience? If so, convenient for what?
