Irregular periods
My period used to last for a week or more but recently, it stops after only three or four days! What’s more, sometimes, it doesn’t come for few months. Why is this happening to me? I’m 24 years old and single.
answer:
Most women experience irregularities in their periods at some point in their lives. Menstruation cycles differ from woman to woman and from month to month. Some always have irregular periods while others get theirs every 28 days on the dot. A period can last from three to 10 days, and occur every three to six weeks. However this pattern can vary with age, stress, diet, exercise and inherited factors. The flow can also vary. This is because the level of hormones in your body can fluctuate from one cycle to the next and this affects the amount and length of bleeding. If you’re sexually active and have missed a period, it is important to see a doctor to rule out pregnancy. If you’re not pregnant, some other known causes of irregular bleeding include fibroids in the uterus, infection in the vagina or uterus and other underlying health problems. Therefore you should see your doctor if you start having periods that last longer than seven to 10 days or periods that are accompanied by severe cramping or abdominal pain.
