How do I find out if I have asthma?

I am a 26 year old guy. I have a hard time catching my breath when I am stressed out or very hot. How do I find out if I have asthma? What should I do?

answer:
If your breathing problems are only triggered or associated with stress and you have never wheezed, it is unlikely that it is asthma. You may be suffering from anxiety attacks, which are common with stress. Although asthma is generally characterised by difficulty in breathing, people with asthma have a chronic lung condition. They have extra sensitive airways. Symptoms of asthma includes wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath and chest tightness. To be sure, visit a doctor during the times you have difficulty breathing to see if you are indeed having trouble. If the problem is anxiety, relaxation exercises will help. Also, try to stay out of the heat as much as possible.
