Boyfriend jealousy
I’m good friends with one of my ex-boyfriends. My previous boyfriend had no problem with this but the guy I am seeing now bristles whenever I mention his name, gets a tetchy whenever I meet him for coffee and doesn’t even want to meet him. How should I bridge this gap?
answer:
It’s not a gap to be bridged. Your new boyfriend is behaving like an insecure and shallow twit who should be viewing this friendship as proof that you are a mature person. If a latent fear that you’re going to cheat on him with your ex is driving this paranoia, confront it head on. Tell your new man that he either trusts you or break up. Having given him no reason to suspect you, why is he even entertaining such thoughts? Better yet, arrange a dinner for three to set his mind a rest. If your man still can’t meet someone you’ve had an intimate relationship with in the past, perhaps the two of you are in very different head spaces, which doesn’t bode well for the future.
