I have a crush on my priest
I’m going to go to hell for this — I have a crush on my priest! Recently, I turned to my priest for help and counselling for some of my problems. This priest isn’t a white-haired old foggie; he’s a strapping young man of 34. Maybe I’m infatuated with his calm, in-control, has-all-the-answers exterior. How do I shake myself out of this?

Yeah, some priests are young, and there have been many books and TV shows about people falling for them. A priest is an authority figure, someone who is in control and whom you can rely on to give you the answers you need. Throw in good-looks, and you’ve got the ideal man. But there’s a reason that they’re priests, and that means they are definitely out of bounds. I am sure there are many women who are in similar situations. There is nothing wrong or even unusual about this. But we both know you can’t act on it. He was there for you when you needed him, and naturally, that attracts you. To shake yourself out of this crush, tell yourself that it’s forbidden, and that your relationship with your priest is too important to jeopardise. You’ll soon get over it and find someone more accessible to have a crush on, so let it go, and you’ll avoid hell, I’m sure.
