My boyfriend and I have been dating for a year. I want to buy him something special, what do you suggest? I’ve always thought that birthday gifts should be better than Christmas gifts, but where do anniversary gifts fit in?

This is a tough one as many a man has been known to freak out when faced with a first anniversary. Why? Because it is proof that he is in a grown-up relationship that comes with responsibilities and accountability. See, it sounds scary right? That said, who doesn’t love a gift? To avoid your anniversary present sparking an emotional malfunction on his part, keep it fun and not too much of a statement. Buy him something blokey and unromantic, say a PlayStation. Or, you could get new lingerie that’d act as gift-wrapping on the best present of all: You wearing nothing but a willing smile.
