Conservative mom
My mom is really conservative, and she doesn’t like my new wardrobe of hip-huggers and tight sweaters. I respect her opinion, but I like my clothes! How can I get her to lighten up, without coming off obnoxious? I’m willing to compromise.

When you talk to your mom, start by letting her know that you are willing to compromise, but first want to understand why she feels the way she does about your clothes. Don’t forget, what is fashionable to your peer group may have a totally different meaning to your mom. She might think the clothes will stereotype you or attract sexual attention. Your mom may also need some reassurance from you about her fears associated with the new clothing, in order to feel more comfortable with your clothing choices.
