Swollen lymph node under armpit
Two days ago, I discovered a swollen lymph node under my armpit, which is sore and painful. Could this be cancerous? I’m also recovering from a really bad flu and sore throat -could this be linked to the lump?
Answer:
Don’t worry yourself too unnecessarily. If you think the lump in your armpit may be something serious like breast cancer, that’s highly unlikely. Though it’s a good idea to see a doctor to ease your worries. The swollen lymph node is probably a result of your cold. Remember too that cancerous lumps are rarely painful. Another cause could be a secondary bacterial infection, which has developed as a result of the first infection reducing your immunity. Secondary infections are more often than not caused by a bacteria, rather than a virus which causes a cold. If this is the case, then you will need a course of antibiotics from the doctor.
