Is it too late for me to have a baby?

I’m already 33 - is it too late for me to have a baby?

Answer:
Don’t worry, pregnancies and deliveries in women over age 35 has increased tremendously over the past few years. That said, your fertility rate does lower with age. Also, the risk of chromosomal abnormalities, in particular, Down’s Syndrome, increases with the age of the mother. Other risks to watch out for in an older mother include spontaneous abortions, the possible onset of diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, and maternal mortality. That’s not to say that you shouldn’t get pregnant or that there’s no risk in younger mothers as well. If you’re planning to have a baby, speak to a doctor who can advise you on the risks involved.
