FRAMES TO FLATTER YOUR FACE
SQUARE FACE
Try round and oval frames, or large for classic sophistication. Oblong faces suit wider, deeper frames.
OVAL FACE
All shapes of frame suit oval faces but make sure that the size of the frame is in proportion to your face.
TRIANGULAR FACE
Oval and cat’s-eye frames suit a triangular face but check they don’t extend further than your temples.
ROUND FACE
Angular frames are best. Thick frames will disguise a high forehead and smaller frames will suit a small face.
ADVICE
To avoid long-term damage, it is important to protect your eyes from the sun. Since 1995, all sunglasses (except for prescription sunglasses) must carry details of the protection they give. Look for lenses that filter out 100% of harmful UVA and UVB rays and conform to British Standard BS2724 (the label may say UV400) - this will not necessarily make them more expensive. Another important aspect is comfort: if sunglasses don’t cut glare, you’ll squint. To counteract this, they are divided into three types - cosmetic, general-purpose and special-purpose.
HOT TIPS
*Never look directly at the sun, even when wearing sunglasses.
*Don’t leave sunglasses in direct heat - it may damage them.
*Buy sunglasses appropriate for what you’re doing - skiing, sunbathing, driving or yachting.
*Opticians can fit most sunglasses with prescription lenses.
