Could I get HIV from the needle that was used to pierce my ears?
answer:
It’s only possible if the needle that was used to pierce your ears was already used by a person who has HIV. A needle that was used on another person could run the chance of having infected blood on it. But the amount of infected blood that could be on a needle used for ear piercing is extremely small compared to the amount that might be on a needle used by an intravenous drug user. If you got your ears pierced at a place like a department store, a jewelry store or a doctor’s office that uses a brand-new needle and post for each person, you’re not at risk.
